All Ways Yoga - Our Founding Pillars

Our Founding Pillars reflect the cycle of the creative life force that lies within us all. Notice. Deepen. Seek. Expand. Push. Create. Connect.

With each of the Pillars, we are reminded that there are various energies that contribute to the birthing of our awareness.

Each of the Founding Pillars rest gently on the premise of the Chakra system. In Ancient Vedic wisdom, the chakras reflect the various energies within the human body, suggesting that each energy centre is a wheel that helps to cycle and move energetic wisdom through the body.

You will notice that the 7 Founding Pillars are used to designate each of our classes on the schedule. This was fun for us to explore! Yet, just like the practice is never a straight line, we do believe that in every class, you will cycle through any and all of these energies and stages of the process of self awareness and creative exploration. Here’s what we imagined for each of these Pillars…what is your connection?

  • Notice

    Awareness, Mindfulness

It is said the many cycles of this practice teach us to “sit” with Self, and in so doing, our noticing deepens our knowing. We connect to, and understand, our awareness of ALL things and in ALL ways.

  • Deepen

    Wisdom, Imagination, Visualization

There are so very many layers in this practice, and when we move slowly, consciously and with a willingess to “dive in”, we can deepen our awareness of these very layers.

  • Seek

    Explore, Truth, Calm

There is a striving that is not from ego but rather from the awareness there is a wisdom to be met when we practice and seek from that place. Deepening our awareness inspires this yearning, and here we honour it and lean in more deeply.

  • Expand

    Nurture, Love, Growth

In our practice, we learn the art of expanding our awareness, our compassion, and our ability to move from our hearts in all our actions. Here we tap into the art of “beginners mind”, and land in a deeper wisdom that is beyond our “knowing”.

  • Push

    Confidence, Power, Strength

When our creative life force comes alive, it sometimes requires a push of hard work to bring the “dream” into fruition. Here we harness the energy of fire, and trust the transformational aspect of this element.

  • Create

    Joyful, Creative

Creation requires inspiration, and feeling and thinking outside the “regular”. Here we trust sensation, feel possible surges of energy, and awaken to the impulse of creativity.

  • Connect

    Roots, Stability, Anchor

This is our Root, our grounding, connected to the Earth element. We honour here the practice of stability, of steadiness, of patience and perserverance.
