Describe one of your most memorable yoga classes. I was introduced to Yoga in 2006. I remember doing my first downward-facing dog in a shared office space in Gastown, where yoga was offered during lunch hour. The fire and genuine desire for yoga was lit and led me to explore this path of body, mind and spirit.
What is something that restores you? I like traveling with my wife and my two daughters. Exploring different places, experiencing different environments and exploring them together energizes me.
How do you recognize when you’re stressed? When I’m stressed it’s a whole body experience. A slight tingling up and down my spine, gentle ringing in the ears, constant thoughts running through my head, and elevated heart rate. That’s when I need yoga the most. It’s almost like a reset button, helping to find perspective, getting both feet on the ground again.
Looking back, what do you admire most about your childhood self? Looking back, it amazes me how carefree and present I was – at least most of the time. There was not much looking back or anticipating the future and getting carried away in endless thoughts.
