Michele enjoys going hiking and kayaking during her time off the mat, and has a dedicated life on the mat too!
“Why did I start doing yoga? Because of health and my mental well-being?
Sort of, not really, it was mainly because I was a stay-at-home mom with 2
little kids and savasana was the respite I needed! Didn’t matter that I had to
endure these crazy Sanskrit words and body positions… as long as there was
a deep relaxation at the end, I was coming back.”
In 2014, realizing there’s more to yoga than savasana,
Michele took her first teacher training and has been
teaching consistently for 6 years.

One of my most memorable yoga classes? I’m a pretty dedicated practitioner, even through the pandemic! After my morning coffee, a yogi must have, I practice 6 days a week and yes, the pandemic didn’t slow me down.
What’s something that restores you? In my time off the mat, I enjoy kayaking and hiking. We are truly lucky to live in such a beautiful place. When I’m not kayaking, teaching, or practicing yoga, I work as a project coordinator/administrator for an ocean engineering firm.
My yoga path? That first session was 20 years ago, in a rec center in Sherwood Park, Alberta, and set me on a path I wasn’t expecting. We moved to Victoria shortly after, where I dabbled in a variety of yoga styles, Iyengar, Hatha, Bikram, Yin, Ashtanga, and Pilates.
